Rice Cakes get customized AF

Rice Cakes get customized AF

Summer wedding season has commenced, and our custom cakes are on!

Seriously though, since all of our products are individually packaged, they make great treats for just about any event. Also they have a shelf life of 3 - 6 months, so it's easy for guests to take them home and have it when they need a snack on the go.

We love do custom orders, which can include unique designs to match the occasion, custom flavors if you'd like, or just custom labels on our already delicious flavor classics.

Next time you're planning a baby shower or birthday party, looking at wedding favor ideas, going to a summer or holiday party, or whatever the occasion, think about frosted rice cakes. They make a great treat for fit brides, sugar conscious Mamas, gluten free grads, or just your average rice cake enthusiast. Plus, and not to brag, but our packaging is pretty freaking sweet :)

Happy planning!

EXPO WEST - We came and (kinda) conquered

EXPO WEST - We came and (kinda) conquered

I went to my first ever Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, and hoooooly cow! I was so not prepared for that. A. I shouldn’t have worn wedges because there was so much ground to cover. B. I shouldn’t have eaten for like 3 days prior because there were enough samples to feed a small country. And C. The presence of rice cakes there was sliiiiiim. Lundberg Farms barely featured their rice cakes and seemed to be focusing on their other products like risotto and other boxed side dishes. And I heard Element was there but I couldn’t find them (but seriously I felt like I only covered half the ground.)

The best takeaway for me was that there is definitely a need in the market for our fun and frosted rice cakes.

2018 Goals – be big enough to showcase at #ExpoWest !

If you’re around, please stop by and say hi!

We’ll be in the shopping aisle with all of our frosted rice cakes, including our special Valentine’s Day flavor, “Love Bites”. And with it’s delicious white chocolate topped with lips and heart sprinkles, you should totally bite back ;)

Bring on 2017

Bring on 2017

2016 has been an incredibly interesting year, most notably as it's the opening chapter in Cake Bams' story. So much has happened since I first decided to pursue this journey to turn rice cakes into actual "cakes."

However, it's a new year, we're just getting started and there's still so much to come. Looking ahead to I have one clearly defined #goal (or should I say resolution) for 2017...get Cake Bams into stores!

Moving Cake Bams from the Farmer's Market into stores everywhere is my priority. Because really, I've learned that markets are a great testing ground and place see how and what works. But frosted rice cakes belong on store shelves. It's the perfect grab and go snack that's a healthier alternative to cookies, yet lower in calories that granola bars.

I can just feel it, this is going to be a great year. I can’t wait to meet the wonderful people that will cross our paths and join our excitement for frosted rice cakes in the months ahead.

#2017 theme song -- The Greatest by Sia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKSRyLdjsPA

Such a motivating song that’ll keep me from giving up when I’m exhausted and want to give up. #Momboss for the win!

Our Farmer's Market Debut

Our Farmer's Market Debut

Yesterday marked our first day at the Marina Del Rey Farmer’s Market!  What a thrill, we are officially bringing our delicious rice cakes to the people.

It’s amazing how much we learned in just six hours. Most notably adjusting our price ($4 was waaay too high), packaging deals (people love the group discount) and we definitely cannot be in the sun (everything melts immediately.)

Also, it's heartbreaking to admit that after spending a decade in marketing and advertising, no one understood my positioning concept. I went with "the official rice CAKE" as in, we're putting the cake in rice cakes. Yeah, so no one got that. I wish I tested this idea out before investing in so much signage! All good though, we're rolling with it for now ;)

On the positive side, there are a few things I did get right. For one, people love the concept of the product. Once I explain that these are the flavors of cupcakes and cookies on the rice cake, people immediately get excited and said what a great idea that is and that they've never seen anything like it before. Words like these truly make my heart flutter. Next, people are loving the flavors we've created. Phew, all of the months of trials paid off! Lastly, I got soo many complements on how beautiful our packaging is and that they love the logo (thanks, Colin!) and brand colors, so all of that makes me super happy.

I'm excited to see what else I learn in the weeks ahead. This is the start of something awesome :)
